Kathmandu, May 8th 2017 : Nepal Aushadhi Limited (NAL), the government-owned pharmaceutical industry, has resumed the medicine production after eight years. The government enterprise restarted the production of Jeevan Jal (medicine to against diarrhea) from Sunday. It is noted that a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on September 18 last year had decided to revive the industry. Minister for Industry Nabindra Raj Joshi inaugurated the restart of the company business amidst a programme. The industry established under the Company Act 2021 BS was closed with the decision of the World Health Organisation to make the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard mandatory. The government had decided to provide Rs 1.46 million of loan to the industry to restart the production in line with the GMP standard and under the first phase, the government has allocated Rs 0.64 million to the industry.
